Christopher Alfreds Grove, Styria
A hardwood handle for your portafilter. It screws on with an M12 threaded rod and fits portafilters with an M12 internal thread.
The handle is 135 mm long and 32 mm across, shaped to sit in the whole hand rather than in the fingertips. It is a single piece of solid hardwood, which stays pleasantly warm where plastic and steel do not.
The wood is Styrian hardwood from a local sawmill, and I hand-pick every board. Each handle is shaped on its own, sanded through the grits by hand until the surface is silk-smooth, then finished with a food-safe oil made in Austria.
Because these are cut in small batches from natural wood, the grain on your handle will not match the photographs exactly. The shape and the finish are consistent; the figure is not.

Stocked pieces leave the workshop within two business days. If the finish you want is sold out, it is cut in the next batch and shipped within 14 days. The product page tells you which applies before you order.
You have 14 days to withdraw without giving a reason. Choosing a wood from the listed finishes is a standard option, not a personalisation, so the full right of withdrawal applies to everything in this shop.
Common questions
- How do I know it fits my machine?
- The models it fits are listed at the top of this page. If yours is not named, or you are unsure which version you own, send me a photo of the part you want to replace and I will tell you honestly whether it fits, including when it does not.
- Will it match a piece I already own?
- It is the same species, the same oil and the same hands, but it will not be identical. Wood cut from a different board months apart carries its own grain and settles a shade differently. Pieces bought together are closest; pieces bought a year apart will look like they belong to each other rather than like they came out of one mould.
- Does wood cope with the heat?
- Yes, and that is the reason wood is worth fitting. Hardwood conducts heat far more slowly than the metal or plastic it replaces, so the part stays comfortable to hold while the machine is up to temperature. The oil finish is food-safe and heat-stable at the temperatures these parts ever reach.
- When will it arrive?
- Stocked finishes leave the workshop within two business days. If the finish you want is sold out, it is cut in the next batch and shipped within 14 days. The page tells you which applies before you order, never after.
- What if I change my mind?
- You have 14 days to send it back without giving a reason. Choosing a wood from the listed finishes is a standard option rather than a personalisation, so the full right of withdrawal applies to everything in this shop.
